![]() So I’ve recently written a fanfic titled “Wait for Me,” and I wasn’t able to find a place to include all of the ideas that I have for the AU in the fic, so I figured that I should make a post that includes all of the little things that I couldn’t fully explain.įirst, the background of Lorule’s heroic legend. Since the whole point of A Link between Worlds is that Lorule’s triforce was destroyed but in Breath of the Wild, it only really manifests in the princess’ sacred power, I made it so the princess decided to give up that power rather than allow Lorule’s Calamity to claim it from her. The risk of that happening came when the hero was near-fatally wounded and unable to defend her, and once she had given up her sacred power, the hero took advantage of the Calamity’s enraged confusion to drive the Master Sword through its back and drive it into the earth, effectively trapping it on the battlefield, before succumbing to his injuries and dying.īecause the princess didn’t have the power that would allow it to be fully banished from Lorule, they neither succeeded nor truly failed. They effectively lost both sacred powers in Lorule because the sword could not be drawn again without releasing the Calamity again, and then they would be fully unable to defeat it. So after that, Lorule had to turn to developing their technology as a defense. They built a huge labyrinth around the sword - kinda like the labyrinths in Hyrule except its where the Lost Woods is in Hyrule - in order to dissuade anyone from trying to draw it again. Over time, Lorule began crumbling because the Calamity was slowly spreading through the earth itself and gaining strength that would eventually overpower the Master Sword, and the only thing connecting the various regions are mechanical bridges that would slowly extend as the gaps grew larger and larger. By the time of the events in my story, Lorule is falling apart more rapidly and would not last much longer - thus Hilda’s desperation for truly lasting solutions. Second, the places of technology and magic in Lorule.īecause the princess’ sacred magic was lost, magic is a far less prevalent force in Lorule. Where Hyrule’s technology was built by the Shiekah, Lorule’s technology was built by many parties out of necessity. The hero and the princess did not have guardians or divine beasts to help weaken the Calamity, which is what ultimately led to their Pyrrhic victory, but they were invented later in order to protect cities and to roam the Labyrinth of the Sword. The only guardians outside of the labyrinth are the turret-like ones, so they are not able to move around if they happen to malfunction. There are only a few Slates like the Shiekah slate in Lorule and all of them are closely watched by the royal family. Most of them are pretty useless because they don’t have many runes, but the princess’ Slate is what she uses to interface with the bridges and eventually is what she uses to create a teleport rune that allows travel between Lorule and Hyrule. When Ravio steals her Slate, he delays her plan because she is forced to put the rune on one of the other slates, but it would give him enough time to find Link, convince himself that he can be the hero that he couldn’t, and try to set him on the course to protecting both his own kingdom and Ravio’s.īecause Lorule is so focused on technology, the shrines that exist in Lorule are more about magic than technology. Line art of Hilda & Ravio from A Link Between Worlds Zelda alinkbetweenworlds. Lorule has been saved from utter destruction by the Hero of Hyrule and his courageous efforts, and he has returned home, leaving Princess Hilda and Ravio to. The treasures that Ravio finds in them are the fire, ice, lightning, tornado, and sand rods rather than spirit orbs. They would be stronger and more durable than the ones that Link could find in Hyrule, and Ravio would end up doing what he did in A Link between Worlds and renting/selling them to Link to help him on his quest. He was afraid to stand up to them (in contrast to Links courageous attitude). A servant of Hildas, Ravio did not agree with her plan to steal Hyrules Triforce. Ravio enters Lorule, where it is revealed that he is Links Lorulian counterpart.
